Too Lonely

We used to come here every spring,
Before the wild gorse turned to gold.
He always told me he was king
Of all the beauty we'd behold.

We'd walk the cliffs, explore the beach
And relish being in the sun.
Stay beyond the sly surf's reach
And watch sandpipers skip and run.

I had to come here just once more
To see if I could bear to stay
Along this rugged, empty shore,
Now that my love has gone away.

I'm leaving, for it's lost its charm.
Although I'll always love the sea,
Without the comfort of his arm,
It is too lonely here, for me!

So many beautiful images here Betty Lou.  I felt the loneliness at the end.

Michelle and Barb:  Gorse is a bush that grows in rather barren areas and is prevalent along the Oregon Coast.  It turns some of the hills to gold.  Here's a link so you can read about it.

All my relatives are in Canada and I don't know of any in Louisiana.  I have heard of Heberts down there though. Not aware if there is any connection.

Betty lou this is breath-takingly sad. A very poignant poem that aches the heart to read. You have such a way with expression of emotions.

Also Here in UK  Gorse is very common so I got the picture very quickly.
Lovely lovely work.

hugs from June x

Dear June:  Thanks for such lovely comments. I always appreciate hearing from you.  My sister visited England about 20 years ago and she told me about the gorse there.  She thought it was beautiful.

PKreturns. Thanks for replying to my message.
My family is from France, and Quebec, but by the time I came along, some of them had settled in Alberta.  That's where most of them still are.

Dear Betty Lou,

I was so touched by your words, that I felt tears in my eyes. I've also felt the lonliness.

Love,
Patricia
