Could Be Anywhere...

mountaintop

taken to the mountaintop
sweet, insincere words
false promise of hope
sweet kisses in moonlight
whispers of desire
love once again, oh joy!

sharing the creation
words of beauty, peace
heart flying oh so high
someone once a friend
calls with accusations
“how could you betray me”

dreams destroyed again
again, again, yet again
crushed into nothingness
giving, oh so much giving
returned is shadows
welcome home loneliness.

taken to the mountaintop
just to be tossed off
falling tears like bitter rain
time to take a stand
time to make a demand
love or leave me alone...

Yes, time for this battered heart to rebel.  Great writing.  Joyce

I'm so filled with grief again knowing that my words were seen as insincere, and knowing that once again I am the object of your pain. So much for the mountain top which I was climbing at the time.
