Rain drops glisten off of a white cherry blossom
In the dull light of a yellow street lamp.  Stars fade
Behind the purple gray clouds of night, and the
Whistle of a train breaks the still silence for miles
Around.  When the noise abates, all is serene again.

Two cajoling college boys make their way down a
Moonless street, following the cracked and broken
Pavement to wherever it is they go on a listless
Monday evening.  Their laughter is broken for only
A moment while the taller one lights his cigarette.

Slowly, cautiously, a green and brown spider spins
Its web in the boughs of the Cherry tree, working
Under the same pale yellow that glistens in the rain.
It stops to check its work, then begins to spin again,
Dreaming of flies and mosquitoes for breakfast.

The tinkling sound of wind chimes, put up by a
Woman that pretends to be happy with her life,
Soothes the troubled mind of the young man that
Sits on the front porch, doing nothing so much
As watching life as it slowly passes him by.

"Ain't Got no quarrels with God, ain't got no time to grow old.  Lord knows I'm weak, won't somebody get me off of this reef"

This is well written.  I could picture the street and everything happening. Very enjoyable to read.

Very nicely written.  The large and the small and the inconsequential all going on at the same time.  Love, joyce
