Not Too Old to Dream

I dream of things I know can't be.
But that's okay, because you see
These flights of fancy comfort me
And entertain, quite harmlessly.

On rainy days, I often find,
I have warm beaches on my mind,
Where sands are white and stretch unlined
And tropic trees are bloomed and vined.

Or when the weather is too hot,
I think of Arctic ice, a lot,
Where giant whales are sometimes sought
And halibut and crab are caught.

But even when the weather's fair,
I often wander off somewhere,
Where girls wear flowers in their hair
And life is easy, rich and rare.

Or find a shadowed country lane
That sheltered kings and knights in chain.
Where history's heroes long have lain,
But seem to rise and ride again!

I see them riding under trees.
Their pennants flying in the breeze.
Off answering some maiden's pleas
And slaying dragons, with great ease!

I don't know which dream I like best.
Not one stands out above the rest.
I send my thoughts off to the west.
Imagination does the rest!

It is often through day dreaming where I find my inspiration to write.  I loved all of the dreams you mentioned and can relate so very well.

Take care.......Sue

Patricia:  I guess we are among a horde of dreamers in this world.  Good thing too. Some of the best poetry ever written was because of dreams!

Dear Betty Lou

I have a friend here, who is helping me to fix my problem with Pip, so I needed a poem to post reply to see if my browser settings allow me to post reply and submit.
