In Quiet Corners

In quiet corners of my mind,
There are relics that I find.
Haunting visions of the past,
Before the final dies were cast,
That led my steps away and so
They never had a chance to grow.

The river runs, but in its shoals,
Are cast-offs, from discarded goals.
I seldom look at them but now,
Nostalgia has me wondering how
Life would have been if some had won
A place to blossom in the sun.

I don't regret the road I've trod.
It's brought me closer to my God
And I've no doubt that I am where
I'm meant to be, but is it fair
To leave so many dreams behind,
In quiet corners of my mind?

This is and interesting question, Betty.  Maybe our lives just aren't long enough to cover all of our dreams.  I think you have made up for it with your lovely poetry.  Love, Joyce

Betty Lou

I guess we all have our regrets in life and we ponder many "what ifs?".  I know I have felt this way before.

Take care.......Sue

Dear Sue: I guess we all wonder sometimes how life would be if we'd taken a different road.

Dear Betty Lou

Dreams are not lost.  When you leave this earthly plane you take them with you.  They are a part of your essence.

What a lovely poem.  I really enjoyed this one.

Dear Isobel:  I suppose you are right, or sometimes, we pass our dreams to other people, to carry out, when we are gone.
