Song of the Lake

The lake is singing songs to me,
About the way things used to be,
Before men came upon the scene.
When everything was still pristine.

It sings about each creek that pours
Into its depths from other shores
And carries cold, ice melted flow
Into these waters down below.

The hills and mountains rise around
Tall, layered tiers of higher ground.
Well timbered;populated by
Wild animals and birds that fly.

I watch to see what might appear
And hear their voices in my ear,
Accompanying the melody
This moving water sings to me.

It speaks about the long ago
And though it's not the same, I know,
It's beauty has survived since then
To keep us coming back again!

You have an enduring poetic ear that seems to hear everything that nature has to say.  This is beautiful.  Love, Joyce

Noah:  We always try to spend some time at Upper Priest Lake in northern Idaho in the summer.  I was thinking about it and wrote this poem. It's a relatively untouched spot.
You can only get in there by boat, or by hiking!

Oh Betty Lou!

The 'Flow' of your words in this poem.  So poetic to my ear.  Thank you so much my friend for sharing this one with us all.  I can 'hear' that lake calling to me.

Love Isobel
