(Inspired by Barb's "Mrs. Dorsey")

No Hearts to Hold

Not one remembered this Valentine's Day
to send a small token as a tiny ray
of sunshine to brighten the gloom
of her room.

She brushed at the tear on
her pale, wrinkled cheek,
mulling over the slights of which
she'd never speak.

She thought of the children
she'd raised with such pride
and longed that just one could
abide by her side.

Then shaking her shoulders in
swift change of mood,
reminding herself she was loved
by her brood

she smiled as she whispered,
"They're busy that's all.
No doubt in a moment they'll
remember and call."

Wow, Joyce, You went deeper than I did. I would like to print this as I made bookmarks with my poems on them and I would like to show my friends at church your poem.
I love this forum. I feel such friendship with you guys.
Love, Barb

Joyce~
Okay ... now I've got the boo-hoo's ... this is unfortunately a sad happening in the lives of so many of our elderly men and women~

I'm heading over to the retirement center tomorrow after church .....~

(big angel hugs) God Bless You, dearest friend, our elderly always must be respected and loved and I always go down to the Catholic Community Center to reach out to them and let them know always God is with them and their loved ones and friends always think of them and for the broken-hearted love finds a way! (sigh) This is most compassionate and giving, sweet friend, you have a precious heart, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
