The past is a swirling haze that wanders aimlessly in the mind without foundation or future lamenting in a whirlpool of discontent neither dead nor alive it burns with invisible fire consuming the present stealing the future with mindless abandon searching hopelessly for a time long past for flowers no longer in bloom for smiles long turned to ash for sunshine in the gloomy mist Take care not to be devoured by its spell nor mesmerized by its siren song for more than it was, you are and more than you are, you could be. |

dear Joyce...I have missed you too..  my duties here to an elderly mother and volunteer efforts at the church have consumed most of my time. this piece took more effort than usual. I beg forgiveness for my absence... the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost |
