Today the sun returned to my sky

In a long forgotten splendour of light

Presenting me once more, with time

Replacing lethargy with lustful fight

The light had been stolen callously

Darkness swallowed my spirit whole

Endless Night without stars or moon

Had gripped and held my very soul

Time meant nothing but an eternal need

To silently implode with my own misery

Screaming inside, but to others it seemed

I languished in a bland kind of apathy

Then the sun returned to greet me today

Painting colours so bright it hurt my eyes

Furnishing my world with time once again

Hope fluttered inside like lost butterflies

Night shares its place once more with the day

My spirit, once weary embraces the light

The embers of depression are dying away

Cooled by the wings of my soul in flight

June, I really needed to read this today. I think this is outstanding writing, so full of true emotions.  Hugs.

I surely hope your sun is back to stay.  Very intense and well done.  Joyce

junemac:  We definitely need sunshine in our lives!  It's hard to stay upbeat during all the gray days of winter.

Hello Betty lou,
This time last year i was in a terrrible state and i am glad to say that i feel lots better now. Poetry was the most positive thing that came from my depression as i first began writing as a let out for my emotions.

hugs from june xxxxxxxxxx

This is a very nice expressive poem. I am glad you are feeling better. It's good to bring depression out because many people do not understand the depth of despair. I wish you well.
