French lavender still lingers in the air

Delivering her presence as if she were there

The room still warms with the essence of her

Expectant of her maternal spirit to stir

Her bed although empty, holds on to reflections

Wrapped in her aroma , tears and affections

Her dreams once played across these pillows of down

Where she danced as a girl in her emerald gown

The room, undisturbed since the day of her death

Is crammed with her being and the love of her breath

She is the smile in the mirror, the dance of the dust

The shadow in the window and the hair in the brush

The very air whispers with the sound of her laughter

Like an echo of her soul to remind us long after

Intense love is tangible here in her empty domain

But we carry her within us like an eternal flame

"she is the smile in the mirror, the dance in the dust",  lovely words junemac.  I am picturing your mother but it could be any beloved lost loved one of course.  Very nice.

June; I was captured and enchanted from line one ! How well you write of the essence of your beloved grandmother! Exquisite poetry. Hugs, Ellie.... p.s. thank you so much for your sweet replies to my poems.

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.

aww thanks ellie,
you have no idea how much your words mean to me. I have struggled recently with my muse and feel i am not quite back to where i would like to be and this is the only work that has come through recently.

i really appreciate you reading and taking the time to reply ( especially as you enjoyed it :0) )

hugs from june xxxxxxxxxxxx
