Etched in the illusion of time

0 posted 2003-12-28 09:06 AM

To Whom It May Concern:

I envy the artist,
who sees the meticulous lines etched into a butterfly's wing,
forged by nature's spun glass fingers, hidden.
A breathless task is undertaken by them to recreate
and manipulate colors, just so.
Their hands, their rough, beautiful hands,
feel things as if the canvas was bleeding sensations of indigo,
wrathful black and honey flavored browns;
the palms brushing against smoothly uneven surface
can trust desperation to speak fluently their bitter language of tint,
woven through, in, about the silk-laced delicacy of summer's wind.

{Hush, my restless soul, hush and be still
you know only what you are given, to suffice
for the pains you endure,
the thirst for endless creativity.
I cannot hear you now.}

My eyes suffer needlessly for the touch of visual elegance,
and the artists' food of brush, paper, unfolded world.
Unsatisfied, insatiable urgency to
envision heaven by breathing in the essence of blue,
and intoxicating ivory snow.
I know nothing, now, but resisting my lust for artistry,
So that I may paint in words.

Pen as my paintbrush and paper as portrait,
the black of ink is every color I've craved for so long.

the weightless skies alive in midday fervency
is my unseen perception of cerulean lace
dampened fog of palpable ash and neutrality
is the faintest brushing of gray

The sky, she is my muse.
I blame her for this divinity of sound, sight, and soul.
Poetry is wine upon an idealist's tongue,
like deliberate melodies, impossibly intertwined to form
silvery Chardonnay
and the deep red rust of Merlot.

Curse the sunrise with her brilliancy and impeccable
taste for roses and dew.
Mistakenly crafted is my skill, extensively unwound as from
a spool of thread,
fragile and mislead
I feel the brittle cord unbind, a little more each day.

My complacency is...
illusively torn

Intangibly yours,
The Poet

If I were to touch you, would you bleed a velvet river, running miracles through the sodden ground? --Moi

How vividly, breathtakingly beautiful!  One so young in years and yet so wise in awareness of her surroundings.  You will go far, young IndigoEve... never lose your inner sight as it guides your spirit well.
Incredibly well done.
Shereen.
