I wrote this poem a few months ago, 2 years after 9/11.

What were you doing
on the day the world cried?
can you still remember
the hour, the seconds of time?

I can recall it in my mind
I was in the eleventh grade
and I sat there numb, knowing
that nothing would ever be the same.

My breath caught in my chest
as I saw the footage of the two planes
I remember praying to God outloud
asking him who was to blame.

Do you remember everything....
how thick with smoke the air was?
how families rushed towards eachother
and gathered all of their loved ones?

And what about all those angels
who never saw the light of day again?
did you weep for them as I did?
did you vow NEVER to forget them?

Dear God, we are only human...
even remembering conjures up so much pain
I can't believe it's been two years
nothing and everything has changed.

We're still fighting wars.....
God, when will all the madness end?
when is it going to stop hurting?
and when can our country finally begin again?

I remember being at my computer late at night, and the TV was on. All of a sudden on NBC Today I witnessed something that will stay in my mind forever. I might be on the other side of the world, but I felt the pain as if I was right there.

I don't think we'll ever forget. Because of the terror it left it's mark, and now we are always carrying this in the back of our minds because of our own personal safety, too. It all comes back lots of times. Seeing airplane terminals on the news brings it back to me everytime. I don't think we'll ever forget. I know I haven't, at all.
So heartfelt this was. Loving it is to remember them. I join you in remembrance with a prayer for the families at this time of year that can be lonely without the one they loved.
Love,
Terri~

TheGirlNoOneKnew:  You were right when you said nothing would ever be the same, after 9/11.  It isn't and never will be.  We cannot go back to what was before. The memories of that day and what has happened since, will always be an impassable door!

You captured the raw emotion that I know that I feel whenever I remember that day.  Very well done.

Happines and joy should always be remembered, as well as the 11th of September.
I was at work, but my wife kept me informed. May we never forget. Good read. And thanks... Melton.

(tears fall down my cheeks) That morning, I was with my mom, who was driving me down Interstate 25 to Denver Academy, a private school I went to during high school, and we were listening to rock on KBCO and all a sudden a late-breaking news announcement came on and said that a plane had crashed into the World Trade Center and was beginning to collapse. We both cried together hearing the news and then after the announcement for about six minutes or so they were playing music until a second anoouncement was made a second airplane crashed into the other tower. My mother dropped me off at the front of the school but before going we sat and talked for a few minutes and hugged one another feeling for all the victims and said a prayer together! (sad sigh) Things like this should never happen, and I pray that all of this war and hatred can stop, as I am also very deeply upset with Bush personally and how when much of the world sympathized with us and we were closer than we had ever been for quite some time, he ruined the opportunity for peace and made countries hate us more than ever by declaring a hate-filled war on two countries, even forgetting about al-Qaeda suddenly and going straight into Iraq (wipes tears) That is just despicable and I only pray that history doesn't repeat itself over and over again like Bush has made it do so and we can settle conflicts with peace and diplomacy without guns and missiles and thrown stones, God Bless You, and God Bless all the victims and their families, they'll always be in our hearts, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet friend, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton
