"the yellow of things"

I always wanted to fly
fly so high, ever so high
reach out to the stars
hold them in my palms
and see them flicker
like fireflies
on and off,
in yellow whispers and
silent breaks

I used to want to rule the world
and all the grand tales
of kings that were so right
helped in their little ways
all that of course changed
like all the rest of things
like dreams that come to an end
that’s when I started wanting to fly

so now I am climbing a cliff
and when I reach the top of it
I am going to jump off it
and forget about the ground
after all if I can fly,
why should I fear landing
but I am wearing a parachute
for even champion rally drivers
wear seat belts

and I am only me

one day, I will hold the stars
right here in the centre of my palms
caress them for a moment
and try to figure out why they sparkle
and even if I don’t, I will let them go
for their shine is for the others too
one day, this dream will end too
but before that I shall visit
the Corner Pub#2

like the yellow of things

sorry if this one troubled your sight... promise next time will be better... at least, I will try ...

Sudhir;  Welcome back to Corner Pub and I like your poem.  I always wanted to fly myself!

I see you are in Belgium now.  Hope it is a happy move for you and will look forward to seeing more of your work.

Smiling here as I understand this completely, even though I still have a fear of flying even when guaranteed a safe landing. LOL, so good to read this honest POV from one of our best poets.

This is a wonderful piece that has a hint of surrealism with it... Much enjoyed.
