The Dancer

Her smile comes slightly
as though she is unsure
how beautiful she truly is…
Her head tilted slightly
her eyes questioning
her laugh at her own expense.

Tis absolutely a wonder
can she really question?
how can this deception grow?
What kind of sick animal
has seeded this insecurity
that has clouded her vision so?

Her doubt is so obvious
carries deeply the scars
no one else may ever see…
Makes the Watcher furious
perhaps even murderous
someone owes her life...indeed.

She dances melancholy, listless
her heart guarded, safe
her defense that diminishes her.
Sad smile comes painfully
as told she is a child of God
and how beautiful she truly is…
