House of Joy

I think of that wee house we owned
In that happiest time of all,
When love was new and enduring
And our children exceeding small.

The peacefulness of our first home
Could still inhabit those loved walls
And spread its sweet tranquillity
To all those who now walk its halls.

Does someone still wait by the gate
And a tiny face press the pane;
Anticipating the moment when
His auto approaches the lane?

The car door slams and arms enfold
And all weariness goes away.
A child laughs and a big dog barks;
He is home from his long work day.

This my prayer for the little house
That so long ago earned its way.
May only love be sheltered there
As it was in that bygone day.

Joyce:  What nice memories must have been made in that small house!  Enough to last a lifetime!

(smiles) Oh my gosh, I just love this, sweet friend, I believe a house is more than just a house, but also a special place of memories and love that always return and are remembered just by seeing it and by feeling the doors and walking through the gardens! (kiss on cheek) I absolutely love this, sweet friend, God Bless You, and may you and your family forever cherish the memories of this precious house, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

Bravo. A house is just a structure but a home is where the heart truly is. As I've been taught. Thanks for the review of my poem. I only hope she doesn't turn away when and if she finds out how I truly feel for her...

Joyce...Enjoyed very much. I still remember my first house after getting married and my parents house as I was growing up. They both contain so many long forgotten memories that you made me think of. Thanks...Paul
