(The twins have arrived.9/25/03,All doing well.)

Innocent Arrivals

Two sweet little ones, you have come from afar,
So helpless, so trusting, so brave.
One after another, a sister and brother,
You left your safe, cozy, warm cave.

Your parents were waiting to welcome you here,
And grandmas and grandpas and more.
You must think us strange and a little deranged
As over each feature we pore.

You close weary eyes as we study each face
Unfolding each day like a rose.
"She looks like her mother," and heard from another
"For sure he has Grandmother's nose."

I don't join in the fun as I secretly think
Of the only face I can see there.
Someone I loved so, whom you'll never know,
Had exactly that shade of red hair.

Joyce 09/27/03

Congratulations, Joyce, on the arrivals!

Beautiful and poignant expression. Truly bittersweet moments in light of those no longer there to enjoy them with us. (((HUGS)))

Joyce
congratulations. I really enjoyed this poem, and it's ending was so sad, but at least through your new arrivals you can see that love remains, and all is not lost. The circle of life is a wondrous thing!
Lovely poem,
Connie

a touching piece dear Joyce. Isn't the heart a wonderous thing that it can feel happiness and sadness at the same time. Blessings on you and yours my friend.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Babies are truly gifts from the Almighty Himself. They bring joy to all who see them. There's a story my Grandma used to tell about the king who wouldn't smile. When a baby was brought before his presense he smiled for the first time...You reminded me of that with this work.
