Fall Colors Call

It is September, but the sun
Not realizing August's done,
Keeps sending down its hottest rays
That keeps high heat within our days.
The crickets sing both day and night.
If not for that, you'd think it might
Still be the heart of summer hours,
Fooling even beds of flowers
Into thinking they can stay
Long after summer's passed away.

There are some dried leaves on the grass.
The teasels are the shade of brass,
But other signs of coming fall,
Delayed somewhere and held in thrall,
Will soon release themselves, descend
And put these hot days to an end!
I have mixed feelings then, you know,
Reluctant to see this time go,
But welcoming the season where
The colors call from everywhere!

This was a beautiful song to bring in the beauty of the season, and all it brings with it. Just lovely!!!!! Very pretty images, too.

I liked this.  Fall is my favorite season by the way, I do like Summer, but their is just some sort of tranquility and welcoming in the brisk, chilly air and the colorful surroudings.

Hello Betty Lou

This was so very beautiful and Autumn would have to be my favourite time of the year.  We are in early Spring and Autumn seems so far away for us.

Take care.......Sue

A lovely tidbit dear friend. Unfortunately, fall in Florida is much like summer but I do not complain when the snow starts falling on my northern brothers & sisters...

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I'll break away although I do love the country here too. (during the rest of the year)

Hot weather?????
Man you sure have a nicer autumn than we do up here...mind you likely have a nicer anytime-of-the-year than we do.

A lovely poem, filled me with envy (as she looks at another cold damp rainy night, after another cold damp rainy day).:blue

Maddy:  Thanks for responding to this poem. We no longer have hot weather!  It has been raining and turned pretty cool.  we are now burning wood in our heater!  I do like the change from all the heat however.

I am originally from Canada,.....Alberta....
and have never been to Newfoundland, but would like to see it one day.

(smiles) Oh Betty, though I too get a little sad seeing the flowers wither away and Mother Nature's friends hibernating, I too love autumn because of all the colors and nice weather! (kiss on cheek) God Bless You, sweet friend, this is lovely, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Betty, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Only  a few of the trees have started to turn their leaves majestic colors. And Hurricane Isabel along with some rain and wind, dropped hot, humid air on us. It sure doesn't feel like Fall!

Hugs, Marti

Marti:  I'm so glad Hurricane Isabel is over, except for all the mess she left behind. I hope she didn't impact you and yours.  The leaves on some trees here are turning yellow...........the first sign of fall........and falling on the lawn.  We never have the colors that you do however!
Thanks for your message.

Betty Lou, this is just lovely. The start of Fall is such a gentle time of year. I think that is why we relax and enjoy the changing colours of the leaves. Enjoyed. Chris

As much as I enjoy the sun and the heat, I'll have to say, I'm ready for some cooler weather. The leaves are already turning color and dropping Betty Lou? Time to get out the rakes huh?

Gee, you guys are quite a bit ahead of us. We have another month or so, before we'll start to see any such Fall changes.

Autumn is a nice time of year.
Thanks for sharing this with us Betty Lou!

Oh, how I can relate to this...
Our official high in Phoenix, yesterday, was 107.
That was a record breaker for that date,
and WAY too hot for nearing the end of September.

Enjoyed this, Betty Lou...

Richy:  You're right about getting out the rakes.  I was looking out the window a short time ago and couldn't believe the yellow leaves lying on the lawns.  Maybe I'll talk my husband into picking them up with the riding mower! good idea huh?

Thanks for commenting on this. We were down to 34 degrees this morning at 5:00 a.m.  Now, that is rushing the season!

Vicky:  Boy, 107 degrees!  Hard to believe there is so much didfference between us. Our high yesterday was 70!  I am really glad for the cooler weather. We had a dry, extremely hot summer, for this area.  Many days of 100 and that is HOT for here.

Nice to hear from you.
