Rusted Bike

Feel like taking a smooth ride
On a rusted bike
That works for me
And I can resuscitate these dead wheels
Just one solid ride through reality streets

Witnessing them all
Silly, un-sexy Hollywood question Marks
Working the corner for a trick
Cell phone junkies/power brokers
Marching away from some brunch
Disillusioned Westside cop
Rolling his eyes back in disgust

Pedaling faster
Escaping all the waste
Aching thighs trembling
Yet never stopping to rest

Jaded eyes searching
Beyond the decadence of Hollywood
Beyond the opulence of Los Feliz
Trying to be normal
On this dear rusted bike

Failing to see - I survived
Passing them all
They stood still in life
Racing maniacally on this rusted bike
Perhaps I've won

I have only my genius to declare!

LOL! This poem is about reflection, as is most of my work.  But if I did have a bike, it wouldn't be rusted. It would be restored.
