There is a place in Heaven above
No pain, no drugs, just lots of love
Where children are robed in white
Holding lighted candles, awesome sight

Having fun times of laughter and glee
Except one child, who is not yet free
His Earthly Father, can not let go
And let his child follow and grow

"Light your candle, and be with us today"
"But, my Father won't let me go and play"
"My Father's heart holds me all too near"
My candle goes out, from my Father's tear"

Yes it is a touching poem.  I wonder about the child left here.  Is there more to the story?  Joyce

Hi!

This poem that I composed, My Father's Tear was inspired through the TV Talk Show, Dr. Phil.

Dr.Phil sit face to face with this father whom did not want to let his son go. He would visit his son's gravesite once a week every week since his death from a drug over dose I believe.

Dr.Phil, told him a story that I thought was awsome. It was about some young people who carried lighted candles, robed in white. They asked the boy why he didn't ever come and be with them. The boy said that every time he lit his candle, his father's tears would put it out.

I don't know if this father and his wife had other children or not. I didn't get in on the first part of that paticular segment.

I am glad you enjoyed my poem and I thank you!

Hi!

This poem is only about a regular father and his son. The boy's father was grieving so much and after burying his son, he could not come to terms with his son's death. He would go to his's son's grave every week. He was stuck in his grieving and couldn't get past
that grief.
