Fields At Evening

I like the fields at evening,
When the sun begins to go
And casts a pall of golden light
Across the land below.
The gilded wheat stands regally
And stretches out of sight.
A sea of wheat that surges east
To meet the coming night.
How it whispers and it rustles,
As I go strolling by.
Enjoying every moment as
The sunset paints the sky.

A crew will come tomorrow
And the harvest will begin.
The wheat will fall to reapers
And be stored within a bin.
My evening walks will change then,
As I wander stubbled fields,
Remembering the beauty
And the bounty that each yields!

As Shara says this is beautiful.  I almost hate to see the harvesting because the fields bursting with grain are so beautiful.  I have a pefect field of brocoli
or cauliflower across from me, I can't tell which.  It seems only weeks ago they were setting out the little plants and they have had to pour the water Usually the farmers don't have to irrigate. But it is beautiful.  I will hate to se it gone.
My sister is still here.  She has found an apartment and will probably move this weekend, but it has been hard to find the time to write poetry or to even read and answer. Love, Joyce

I love this; it describes so well what I see now each night as I drive my truck through the wonderful northern English countryside down to the midlands each evening . How I love the summer evenings.. Beats the hell out of them snowdrifts of winter!. I will put this in my library & read it when the snow starts!..

Shara Rose:  I'm glad you enjoyed this. People are cutting wheat now, in our part of the company and it brought back memories of living on a Southern Alberta wheat ranch, years ago.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Hello Betty Lou

Thank you for painting such a vivid picture and making me want to be there with you.  I could almost smell the wheat and feel the warmth of the sun.  I am in awe at this beautiful piece of writing.  I would love for you to send me more of your poems and I hope all is well with you.

Take care......Sue

Hi Sue:  I would be delighted to send you some of my poems.  Thanks for asking. Glad you enjoyed this one!

My family is all doing okay.  Our oldest boy had a bad accident about 3 weeks ago and had to have surgery on his left leg, to re-construct it, as it was so badly broken.
He'll set of alarms everywhere he goes now with all the steel rods, plates and pins!
He's recovering well and not in much pain now.  I appreciate you asking!

Love
Betty Lou
