I showed you me tonight
Layed her out bare
No frills, no smiles, no lies
Do you still care?

Hesitant, she stepped up
Opened the darker soul
A part no one sees
Once again, to play the fool

And now I'll wait, I think
For the distance to form
Tears still build up
A never ending storm

I know you wanted to know
So I showed you all I could
Waiting to be cut down
Like so many trees in the woods

There was a once upon a time
Childish hope burned bright
But it was replaced long ago
By the barest flicker of light

Now everything's laid on the line
Nightmares, fears, dreams, hates
Will the hope be fed more fuel?
Or is it once again, "too litte, too late"....

I awake to a world I don't want. There is no transition for me. I am in heaven. I am in hell.

It's so hard to open oursleves up to people sometime, I guess for the fear of rejection.  I have a bad habit of always trying to protect myself. Maybe not always a good thing.  Your poem got me thinking, I really enjoyed it.

This is the honest thing to do. Now, let the chips fall.

Been there, and haven't we all at one time, or another, but I found out in times past there are some things that people *already* have notions, or thoughts, and it takes moving a mountain, or a miracle of God to remove that IDEA they have. Sometimes no matter what, people aren't open to listen, because of that one opinion they won't let go of. Like 2dalimit said...you did the right thing..After that it's all prayer. My heart goes out to you. I hope all turns out well. If my making these long comments are bothering all of you.. would someone let me know, and I will stop. I just can't seem to stop saying what comes to mind, and rings out in my heart.

let the words fly SharaRose. that's what we're here for. Angel, there is nothing else to do. Be yourself and perhaps, be more selective?  best wishes from an admirer...

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Nicole,

I really enjoyed this and if there is truth to it, I hope it turns out well.

I thought this poem was extremely beautiful.
As someone said already, we have all been through this.
Amazing job.

If you are in fact writing a true story account, you have a lot of courage that you have shown here.

I am trying the online dating thing again and have been e mailing with someone for about 2 or 3 days now. As of right now we are getting along fine and having a lot in common, but he doesn't know I'm disabled yet. We'll see what happens when that issue comes up.

Sometimes we are rebuffed when we are honest and open. but it pays in the long run.  Joyce
