-Without Question (For My Mother)-

I was born of a love you used to share,
An unplanned, sweet catastrophe.
And from that first moment I laid in
Your arms, you loved me without question.

Through the years you strived and
Worked your fingers raw to give me all
You never had. By going without,
You kept me safe from fear and harm.

And though I do not always love myself,
And sometimes you cannot see the
Pride with which I keep you in my heart,
Doubt not that I will always keep you near.

Chances squandered, and bitter tears
Cried from fights between you and I
Mean not so much as a lazy summer
Afternoon spent talking in the Sun.

Looking back, I can remember only
Those times we’ve shared where
Everything is done with love and
Care and for the good of each other.

Cast down your worries Mama, for
I will make it through this life just fine.
Remember, I am your only Son,
And I have your love to guide me through.

i have got to tell you that i enjoyed this poem so much. I am the mother of two sons and i know i would be so proud of a son who wrote those touching words.

Hello from a mother here of 2 sons. One can hope all these things said here..that their children will see all was for guidance, and love to prepare a child for the world out there to be ready, and able to sustain a life away from mom, and dad!! Thank you so much for letting us see the words we yearn for. All a person can do is their best, and hope it was taken in the spirit in which it was meant, and that is for the best of the children even in the fights.
