Pitiful Petunias

The promised rain
did not arrive.
My plants are only
just alive.

Eight days the time
that I was gone.
I asked my friend
to look in on
my roses and my
annuals,
my baskets of
perennials.

I left the hose
hooked up close by
to water them
if they looked dry.

They had been watered
I could tell.
Why is it then
they don't look well?
Why did they take
this sad nose-dive?
I fear some of them
won't survive.

The only answer
I derive
like children, plants
need love to thrive.

Darn, I'm so sorry about your beautiful plants. Now that you are home, I'm sure they will perk up with your love and care.

A most enjoyable poem.  hugs...

Isn't that the truth?

Good analogy, Joyce.

Joyce dear, I had the same problem with a lovely Bouganvillia bonsai. sometimes there is just no explanation. nice read.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
