Simple Thoughts~

I want to write poetry
but have no meticulous skills
to perfect words.
All I have to offer is this:
Simple thoughts
that seem foolish to some,
but to me, it’s magical.
I marvel at how ants chatter
their antenna’s squiggling in a frenzy.
It seems to me they are beyond our time.
We have to use our mouth to talk,
but ants stream along in long lines
bragging about their telepathy.
I can only wonder at their cleverness.
Birds stand on one leg when they sleep.
Why don’t they fall over?
They must get tired,
But no, when they wake up
they soar for hours in the big blue sky.
They seem to know
they have free airfare.
I can only dream of that sort of flying.

Dear Debra,

Deb:  I like your poem and how observant you are!  Not many people take time to really see the simple things around us, like ants and how fascinating they are.

We can learn a lot from animals. Good thoughts.

It's breathtaking how often the simple things in life are the most magical.  I loved this poem, both for the feelings of wonder and mystique I got from it, and from capturing the essence of what we're all doing here succinctly.

"Ain't Got no quarrels with God, ain't got no time to grow old.  Lord knows I'm weak, won't somebody get me off of this reef"
