The Intruder

There's a little mouse in my house
Who has given me a fright.
He was wholly uninvited
He should know that's not polite.
There is no room in this old house
For that small mouse and me.
If one of us must move away,
I'm determined it be he.

He ran so fast across the room
As if he had the right.
I fear he'll jump upon my bed
In middle of the night.
How did that trespasser get in?
Was it through an open door?
Who's the tattle-tale who told him
I've no cat any more?

I know you're kin to Mickey
But I'm programmed not to like you.
You come too near to me I fear
I'll take a broom and strike you.
I suppose you cannot help it
That you're such a nasty pest.
But I hope you'll reconsider
Your invasion of my nest.

I'm going to the pet store
To buy myself a cat.
I'll be sure she is a mouser
And not too big and fat.
So little mouse take warning,
It is time for you to ramble,
For matching wits with Kitty
Isn't worth the gamble.

I know you're cute and all of that,
But I'll be rooting for the cat.
