Vanity

My mirror's old, it doesn't show
Every line and trace
That time has left in passing,
Impressed upon my face.

My mirror's kind, there is no sign
Of silvered hair and gray.
It shows me as I used to be
Once, on my wedding day.

Its foggy depths do not reveal
The way I've changed or how I feel.
It doesn't show me what is real
And so before its sight I kneel,
To gaze and dream a little while.
It does no harm and makes me smile!

Nice read. Up to your usual high standard....

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

I think my mirror must be broke, it shows all kinds of lines and splotches, plus lots of gray lines in my hair. Enjoyed reading about yours.

Sorry Songbird, but I promised my daughter she could have it when I'm gone!  Hopefully, long years away!

The old saying is so true, you're only as old as you feel.  I think your mirror sees you exactly as you are, young at heart.  Very nice poem.
