The Aspen Grove

There is a golden wall that glows,
Where a grove of aspen grows
And sheds their tears of leaves around
The roots that anchor them to ground.
The wind that moves them here and there,
Is wild and hungry, strips them bare
And leaves them standing naked to
The snow that soon comes blowing through.

Where once their glory caught the eye,
It's easy now, to pass them by,
Not noticing this shrouded wood.
Forgetting how their beauty stood
In other seasons of the year,
Entreating us to linger here,
Enjoying greening boughs and then
Their splendor in the fall, again.

This is beautiful and shows how quickly beauty can be lost.  Joyce
