Cheated Autumn

Inverted bowl of granite gray
Denys the sky, conceals the day.
I'm peering from my window sill
At lovely Autumns dishabille.
Cold Rain and Wind combine in glee
To strew the lawn with Fall's debris.
No chance to mow, no use to rake,
'Til last leaf from the trees they shake.

Warm Summer over-stayed her time,
Stealing the first of Autumn's rhyme.
Fall, waiting at the Season's gate,
All flushed and hurried, came in late.
Then Winter not to be out-done
Decided he would have some fun.
Recruited Wind and Rain to try
To steal a bigger piece of pie.

Now Autumn squeezed 'tween hot and cold
Must take her bag of colors bold,
Hasten to a friendlier place
Where lingering Summer she can chase.
Fall when given a chance to stay
Three months before she's blown away,
This golden gowned, Belle of the Ball
Can be the grandest of them all.

Joyce:  I loved this one!  Autumn will be very short I'm afraid and the predictions are for a long and hard winter. There is already snow just a short distance above us at around 4,000 ft.

(sigh) We haven't even gotten our first frost down here in Colorado, and they say there may be no relief on the way and this will be a dry winter! (big hugggsssssss) This is beautiful, sweet friend, I love it, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Joyce, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!
