As you know i have recently come back from a beautiful trip to Wales and this poem was inspired by my evening walks down to a lovely little cove.

--------------------------------------

The sizzling sun relinquishes its hold
A soft warm evening begins to unfold
Cool dark leaves on the trees in the lane
Glint healthily awaiting the rain

Two rabbits streak by
They frighten a thrush
just a flash of white tails
Darting under a bush

The wind dances warmly
Stirring lightly the air
Embracing all nature
whispering in my hair

A shock of purple
In amongst the greenery
Is a beautiful foxglove
Enhancing the scenery

The sound of the ocean
Grows ever intense
As the lane meanders
To the cliffs and a fence

A trodden pathway
Breaks off and away
Gently sloping
Right down to the bay

A miriad of pebbles
Lead on to the sand
As if to seperate
The sea from the land

The cove holds her arms out
To welcome the sea
As the sky swallows the sun
And sets the night free.

Put it this way I'm English and my memories of Wales are sitting in a tent in the middle of no-where in the rain with sheep trying to invade my space...yet this poem somehow made me want to go there, you should send it to the Wales Tourism Board or something lol.

idleeyes,

i giggled when i read your comment about sending it to the tourist board, i am flattered by this lol but i am sad your memories of Wales were not as good as mine. What you experienced was what i expected lol so i was pleasantly surprised.

Amazing poem! I really enjoyed the imagery as the words became one with the picture you painted.
