Final Masquerade

I paint a smile one final time
Pull on my funny shoes
Create a joyous laughing crowd
Oblivious to my blues

Im trapped inside a jokers grin
Emotionless it seems
Concealed behind a hideous mask
A world of broken dreams

So very weary of being the clown
Never once revealing me
The camouflage was cemented on
Now crumbles, setting me free

You  see the scars of time i wear
There are heart wounds in my eyes
But also smiles of love and trust
And at last a clown who cries

Oh poor clown who cries.  Sometimes the laughter just dies for awhile, but it will come back.  Love, Joyce

June~
So many layers to the poignancy of this piece~

I have worn the mask of a clown
not knowing what else to do
Released my emotions though poetry
NOW ... who's laughing at WHO ?

Well .... just lookee at that little bit of inspiration you caused !

Have a wonderful evening ... and a better tomorrow~

June, I got so much from this piece. Thank you. To me, it is the sign of a spectacular poet who can write a poem that has many meanings to the reader.
Brava dear lady.

Dear June,

this is so heart-wrenching. its so true that we act like a clown many a time to mask our sorrows...

marti ,
thank you so much your words have encouraged me to write more. I still feel quite new at this ( well at least new at showing other people my work ) you made my day.
hugs from june x

michelle,

you too have been really kind i am glad that you enjoyed this and i wrote it because i do hide behind a smile quite often in life and am sometimes tired of putting on a brave face for the world to see.

thanks for your encouragement.
