The Party

I threw a party yesterday,
in honor of the sun.
He being invited elsewhere,
gave my affair a shun.
I changed it to a welcoming
for warm and gentle Rain.
The guests all carried umbrellas
and I heard none complain.

It was a happy gathering
and Rain enjoyed her shower.
The gifts she received were lovely,
each one a pretty flower.
The birds provided the music
and we began to dance.
We didn't miss the sun a bit;
too bad, he had his chance.

Sun hasn't shown himself today,
I guess that he's annoyed.
He thinks Rain's stolen his honors
and with his feelings toyed.
I guess I'll let him sulk a bit,
then welcome his return.
Even Sun must learn that homage
is something he must earn.

Joyce:  Very cute poem!  I guess we have to have our parties, no matter what the weather, as it seldom cooperates!

An interesting way of looking at the weather.  Ive been having a party for the sun for the past two days, the first REAL days of spring up here in cold Duluth.  I enjoyed reading this.

I'm having the same kind of party this morning!  I enjoyed your poem very much, while listening to raindrops tap on my window.  Thanks!

Thought this was fantastic as not many people appreciate the rain, I know I do!  As for mr Sun, he's fun whilst it lasts.  Great Poem, thanks for sharing!
