Floral Faces

I have a fantasy of spring,
That next year, April days will bring
Bright daffodils and tulips too,
In every size and every hue.
The hyacinth and primrose patch,
Will show me flowers without match.
Forsythia and Daphne, sweet,
My anxious eyes and nose will greet.

Each day will bring the happy sight
Of blossoms, opened, overnight.
The Lily-of-the-Valley bells,
Will spread perfume and cast their spells
In shadowed corners of the yard.
I'd pick a favorite, but it's hard,
For they all have a special place.
I love each pretty, floral face!

Each helps beguile the passers-by
And with its beauty, draw the eye
And if I could, I'd have them last
Long after May and June have passed,
To mingle with the summer crowd.
For even roses, tall and proud,
As wonderful as they might be,
Are not as lovely seems to me,
As fields of bulbs in colored rows,
Or scattered where the wild fern grows.

Along the creek, they add a dash
Of red and orange above the splash,
Where water rushes to the west.
I've always loved spring flowers best!
Now, in my fantasy, I find,
A few of each and every kind!
Just like the catalogs I see
And never mind reality!

This is a lovely poem.  I have the dafodills and have had the snowbells for weeks and of course camelias and rhodies and the spring flowering trees.  Spring is here but so are the rains so I can't get out and enjoy them.

Joyce:  Thanks for your nice comment. It's pouring here too, but I don't have much blooming.  Crocus, violas and that's all.
You are far ahead of us!

Dear Marge:  Thanks!  You probably have flowers all year round!  I am always so eager for them to start blooming every year.

Hyacinths are my most favorite, but of course I love them all! Beautiful bouquet, Betty Lou!

Denise:  I love hyacinths also.  Right now I
have only crocus and violas in bloom but they are a welcome sight. Thanks.
