You say I have no right to speak
   to put an action down
You claim that I am wrong and weak
and have no place in town
Telling me I'm unAmerican
   and your accusation's strong
Telling me how dare I can
   proclaim,"For peace,I long"
You argue that I'm filled with hate,
   while you lacerate my way
Imbue and hew,exacerbate
   the literary fray

I hold onto a reason rhymed
that is my right to bear,
a commentary that is timed
   with writing very clear
I do not contradict the fact
   of danger in the East
I still mourn the day, that hateful act
   'gainst towers now deceased
I do not go against the brave
those ones now in the plight
I just question what is really saved
   and question time to fight
I wonder 'bout the motives
   I worry for the mild
But your angry accusation lives
   unreasonable and riled

I only want the Truth and Right
to find their way to where
the innocent are safe at night
   and are treated firmly fair
and if you cannot understand
   my fears,my hopes,my care
It truly proves you only stand
to point your fingers at the air

I just want to state that I posted this for a dual purpose,to hit 2 birds with one stone,
so-to-speak.I speak to both sides of the war issue.I have seen the most hateful comments
exchanged on this site.I am very disturbed by such venomous accusations, overly generalized statements, and lack of understanding.I truly believe we are all horrified by what is going on despite our political standpoints.Why,why...WHY is there a war going on here...HERE...when there is enough with one going on in the MiddleEast?
I,as the rest of you pouring your hearts and minds into writings which comment on the world and the human condition, have a "Passion" to do so.I also especially understand that such a time as we are dealing with now, with this war and other threatening situations that are going on in the world will escalate peoples passions.
Get me straight on this:you do not have the right to call me a demon or call my country evil.If you live in another country, respect me in this and understand that all living beneath the same banner do not necessarily all share the exact same points of view.If you live within my country, the USA,do not dare to call me un-American if I use one of the American principals called Freedom of Speech and speak of my disappointment with my government's choices and its disregard for diplomacy,UN sanctions and something that Hans Blix wanted,a little patience. These are just my opinions...and I could be wrong! But, I repeat,BUT...I am entitled to this and my prayers go out to ALL involved, especially the innocent, the children. My prayers go out to the troops. My prayers even go out to those who use "The Right" as an excuse to verbally attack us,burn our flag, and violently protest, which,to me,fighting for peace is like(excuse me,please)
copulating for virginity. In other words,it does not make sense or help matters at all.It only makes things worse.
I may agree with some on many issues which have been debated here in "Passions",but I do not condone hate-filled words attacking in a generalized way which "goes for the jugular" even toward those who want Peace with every fiber within them.

Peace to all of you,my fellow friends and poets,Geoffrey

I agree with you in the entirety of your writings.  Many of us did not want the war hoping agains hope it would not happen.  Now that it has my prayers are for the least damage possible and a blessed ending with only the guilty punished.  Joyce

Dear Joyce,my heart coincides with yours. This war has stirred up so much more than I even thought.I too pray that there will be a quick healing for the world,if possible. To me,There is nothing like making friends with another.Learning another's culture, feelings and thoughts enriches life.
Hate, misjudgement, and not trying to understand another only creates loneliness and estrangement...and more war,in one form or another.

Peace,Geoffrey

Geoffery,
I stand firmly on the other side of the argument from you, however, I appreciate and respect the fact that you are able to make your points in a calm and respectful manner. Taking your posting as it is, without the political or social implications, I also find it to be very well written. I'll keep looking for more.

Thank you dearest Geoff.

ad hominem (not sure if spelled correctly) ...viscious slapping another person for their views is totally unacceptable in my home...for our homes are all interconnected, and we are all visiting citizens on One Planet Earth who must learn to respect one another or give up the planet top a species that is gentler and kinder.
I vote for the Manatees to take over.

Sweet Kacy, you made me laugh.I think I will join your vote for the manatees! .I'm sure that they would not bomb the land for it being a threat or being different from the river! Although, considering how we pollute our waters,I'd say that I wouldn't blame them if they took action against the landlubbers!

Peace,Kacy,your friend,Geoff
