What can an orphan as I do,
When my only beloved teacher
Intertwines with Earth.
I can't hold my teacher's last word,
To kill my love,
Yet I have stolen his sword,
And practiced inherited martial art.

What can an orphan as I do,
When my only beloved teacher
Intertwines with Earth,
And my love's heart belongs to else.
I have betrayed my teacher, now
What can I do
Beside to conquer the martial world?

What can I do
So I can be somebody?

What can I do
So my follow sisters
Will accept me...again?

How else I can
Live a life
With dignity?

Side note: This is my response to a Chinese TV series.

Eliza:  I think you will have to figure this one out for yourself.  What would be an acceptable solution in American culture, might not be in Chinese culture. I'm glad this is just a product of your imagination.

Betty, in Chinese tradition, betraying teacher, family, country is serious bad. But what I'm getting at is that love can make some betray...I sympathize with the girl, since either option is tough on her. What's more is that even she would give up to be a good student, and her face. The guy's only love another girl but her. And some people even know at the end they are not going to get anything out of the relationship, that they would only get blamed by others, that would be hurt deeper by their lover, yet still continue scarifice for their lover. Doesn't matter who you are, no one escape from the love sea.

interesting--i'm a Chinese myself...

i grew up watching those marital arts series...it's all very romantic--the hero aspires to travel around the world with only his sword on his shoulder and after many mishaps (as what you have mentioned in your poem), he's blessed by his soulmate (usually some ravishing beauty) who looks at him in awe and adoration...they will then both lead vagabond lives, exemplifing the marvels of love

thanks for the chuckle..and i'm not too ashamed to say that i still watch them, despite the cliched plots
