Sasha

Her soft white coat,
Her playful ways,
I miss her so.

Walking along with her blood red lead,
She used to love that lead but now?
Now she is no more.

A rabbit!
To chase!
Accross the  busy  main road.

She struggled with her loved so lead,
I held her back in vain,
She did not give up,
She twisted round,
Chewed her way free from the blood red lead,

It came round that corner,
I saw it in a flash,
BANG!
It hits.
She's gone.
Her white coat now splattered with red,
Red like her lead,
Her blood...red...lead...

i like the tragic and dark nature of your writing here. I feel for you if this is a true story.. and my prayers go out to her

I've always had a dog while growing up as a young boy and remember many a day nursing one of my dogs, almost like one of the family, back to health and I also recall the sadness associated with losing such a pet as you have described here. This is such a tragic poem for one who loves animals, but one that I know is so true and really emphasizes the great thing that we have here in this forum to express ourselves even if the poems that are expressed here are about tragic events in our lives.  A sad poem, but very well expressed.

Yes I understand this one.  My little Muffin had the same fate, because she wouldn't mind.  Very emotional.  Joyce
