Surprise from Hannah

Hannah called on the phone today.
My little Hannah just turned two.
Amazed I was to hear her say,
"Hello Grandma, how are you?"

I thought my ears were fooling me,
Forgetting how quickly time flies.
"Why hello Hannah, how are you?
This is a wonderful surprise."

To call her doting grandma, she
Had taken time from busy play.
She didn't know how bright she'd made
What could have been a boring day.

Just days ago, it seems she was
Our newly arrived babe in arms.
Now she's a walking, talking doll,
Filled with laughter and pixie charms.

Oh Hannah darling, do not be
In such a hurry to grow up.
You spurn the bottle that you loved
For drinking from a big girl's cup.

You are the center of our lives.
You captivate with wile and smile.
We know the wide world waits for you.
We'll have you for only a while.

Forgive us if we yearn to keep
This little one we sing to sleep.

OhJoyce~
A DELIGHTFUL way to begin my day~

'You are the center of our lives.
You captivate with wile and smile.
We know the wide world waits for you.
We'll have you for only a while.

Forgive us if we yearn to keep
This little one we sing to sleep.'

Absolutely heart-touching thoughts~
Gosh-darn, does this Grandma also know these feelings~
Thank you for reaching out and touching~

Joyce:  What a charming and loving poem!  I enjoyed it so much.  You should post a picture of your darling Hannah sometime.
