Starlight

They say the light shining from the far distant star
Has been streaming for eons, it's coming so far;
The star that was glowing may no longer be there.
My mind can't comprehend that light comes from nowhere.
The astrologers tell us, so it must be so,
There's much more to the universe than we now know.

I only know what my senses tell me and they say
The star still shines from there, though it's far, far away.
As my heart still refutes what they've told me is true,
That you've gone far away and the love that we knew
Is over and now I must go on with a life
That is empty of meaning, if I'm not your wife.

As the lovely light tells me the star is still there
So my love burning brightly assures me you're near.

Joyce,

I often wonder the same things--they seem so close... touchable--and at the same time I realize, that the particular star--may not even exist any longer, and it's that long ago light--I'm seeing.  A comparasion of this to a love that shines beyond expiration is a very wonderful thought.

Thank you for sharing this,

--Matt

'The star that was glowing may no longer be there.
My mind can't comprehend that light comes from nowhere.'
