THE NOVEL

It is not easy,
After so long
Seeing you like this.
The silence of the setting
Screams out to me,
In anguish.
Memories, long hidden,
In the recesses of my mind,
Make their escape
Into my consciousness.
I am unashamed of the tears
As they flow freely,
Down my cheeks.
How open and honest
You always were,
Now, more than ever,
Your face is a book.
The chapters
Show great hardships,
Grievously,
I added to these.
I pray, hopefully,
I am forgiven for this.
The book is a novel,
Love and compassion filled.
It shows physical
And emotional strength,
And an unquestioning search
For knowledge.
Each page is full
Of the undying and unchecked
Expressions of your gentle caring,
For others, and myself.
How unselfishly
You have bared your soul.
As you lay before me
How well I see,
That on reaching
The final chapter
Of this book,
It speaks of peace,
In DEATH.

I be me BUT who does me be?

Dear Spirit.  How touching.  Sometimes we long to rewrite some of those chapters, after it is too late.  They have gone beyond our reach. Joyce
( I have been having computer troubles and unable to get in to read or post, so don't think I am ignoring you wonderfule people.  I have a technician coming Tuesday.  Hope he will fixt it.  I am so frustrated.)  Joyce

You write so descriptivly and this poem flows  beutifully. Ellie

A friend hears the song in my heart, and sings it to me when my memory fails.
