THE STALLION

Brave Warrior,
Honored Chief,
Leader of your people.
They took away your freedom
Yet never learned
How to harness your spirit,
Your pride.

You died a captive heart
But your soul was free.
You were and still are
A stallion of great courage
And spirited independence.

I be me BUT who does me be?

Very nicely done. Enjoyed. Chris

SPIRIT:  I really liked this poem.  It reminded me of the wild horses of Nevada, where I lived for many years.  We had a herd of them that visted us often, at a mine we had in the back country and they were magnificent creatures!
