Too Early

Hello, darling little snowdrops,
what are you doing there?
I can't believe that you don't know
that it's still January.
I thought I'd take a look around
to see what's in the air.
It is so warm, I am afraid
you think it's February.

Will you please tell your lovely friends,
to stay abed for now?
The daffodils and tulips need
not be in such a hurry.
I fear the frosts may come again
to spoil the springtime show.
If you'd pass on my warning then
I will not need to worry.

I see them peeking little heads
up through the warming ground,
but February could be cold
and nip their little noses;
and March might come in like a lamb
and do a turn around.
Now wouldn't it be better if they
waited for the roses?

I'll go and fetch a calendar,
if you would show them please.
Tell them that April is the time
to strut their pretty stuff.
Their winter sleep is not yet done,
some more z's they should sieze.
When spring has come for certain,
will be plenty time enough.

"Snowdrops"... I love it... as I sit here in zero degree temperatures wanting and waiting for spring... This is lovely, Joyce...

Thank you Nan.  We've been having some very heavy rains and I hadn't been out to notice until yesterday that my snowdrops are blooming.  And I even found buds on some eager daffodils.  Joyce

As usual an 'award winning' post, don't get the joy of snowdrops here, but the cactus are flourishing.

Joyce,

I really enjoyed this cute little poem on the coming of spring. I hope that your flowers survive this warming trend that you seem to be experiencing. Would you mind sending some of that warmth this way?

Dear Joyce:  I noticed today I have violas blooming in some of the flower boxes!  Couldn't believe it!  But it's been in the 40's most of January.  Hope February doesn't give us all a rude awakening! Really charming poem.

January thaw is but a brief respite before the howl of Febuary. beware little flowers that you don't freeze your tootsies......

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost

Thanks Friends.  The sun is out today and I see signs of spring all over.  I just hope we don't have any setbacks.  Love, Joyce

Even though I love winter, your poem is great and almost enough to make me want some nicer weather

Thank you Star, Aries, Denise and Marge.

Spring has slowed down a bit.  We have been having frost.  I hope my babies make it.  Love, Joyce

I guess nature is messed up here lately, especially in Florida...70 one day, 30 the next...it's crazy!
