YESTERYEAR

Hush - speak softly,
Here’s my hand,
Hold it.
Together
Let’s lightly tread
To uncover
A softer,
Gentler yesteryear.
When passion
Was the exploding
Intimacy
Between
Kindred souls,
During
The private moments
Of togetherness.
When a first kiss
Was exactly that
A first kiss.
Hesitant,
Timid,
Shy,
Warily testing.
When love
Was so much more.
Not something
Imprinted
On a virginal mind
By exploitation -
Of media.
When the body
Was a mystery.
Uncharted land,
Eagerly awaiting
Discovery
And exploration.
When glowing faces
Tender looks,
Keen sensitivity
Bespoke volumes
Of wondrously
Shared pleasures.

When
Love
Was
Love.
Pure,
Simple
And
Everlasting.

How different,the dark that scares us,
From the dark, behind our eyes,
That we hide behind to protect us
From the dark that scares us. ©das
