The Stoic

I'm one who's learned to let tears flow.
If I am hurting you will know;
I'm just as apt to tell you so.
But there is one, whom I hold dear,
Who never seems to shed a tear.
She won't allow one to appear.

Stoic, but if that dam should break
And let outside that awful ache,
Her grief would make this valley shake.
She's had her sorrows, maybe more
Than anyone is ready for.
She girds for what may be in store.

This morning I received the call,
I heard her voice and that was all
I needed, for the tears to fall.
I knew before she said the word,
When firmly controlled voice I heard;
Another horror had occurred.

I can't say I was unprepared.
I'd heard the news and I was scared
He had been one of those who dared
The Mountain in her fearsome might.
He's one of those who lost the fight.
All's still again by morning's light.

(Craig Kelly, many times over champion snow boarder, guide of the group who was caught in the avalanche in yesterday's news, was my stepgrandson.
I am facing it my way by sharing. I only wish my daughter had this outlet.)Love, Joyce

How inadequate 'sorry' is at a time like this - but I am. Prayers!

Dear Joyce:  My heart really aches for you! Your poor family has had so much sorrow. My husband and I were talking about the accident this morning and thinking about all the people who are bereft!

Joyce,

There are no words of comfort I can provide right now. Please know my thoughts are with you and your family.
