LATTER JOY

How you have changed,
Age has mellowed you.
You hold my hand
With such a tenderness
That I don’t recognize,
From our younger days.
You actually listen to me,
And even more importantly,
You hear me.

In the bedroom
The lust of planting
Your masculinity,
Deep within my womb,
Has been replaced
By a most fulfilling
And caring consideration
For my wants and desires.

You no longer
Raise your voice
(Or hand),
In anger or impatience
Against me.
In all honesty,
Without fear
Of contradiction,
I can sincerely say,
I love you today,
In your maturity,
Far more
Than I did
In your youth.

I am an enigma, even unto myself.
A puzzle unsolved, a mystery maybe until beyond death.  ©das

Spirit,

Sounds like you weathered a lot to find this beautiful love you have today.

I empathize with your poem - I am in that stage of life too. (revealing my age!)

I find it's a great point in one's lovelife- one learns not to expect surprises, to take each day as it comes -many things else do take up one's time.
