HIDE ‘N SEEK

I hid my feelings,
In my younger years.
A protection, I thought,
Against peers
I felt no equal to.
I hid them behind a wall,
Built from an
‘I don’t give a damn’ attitude,
Even though I really did.
Accordingly I lived a lie,
Every day.

I’m older now
I seek to find that
Which I hid, close the eyes,
Count to ten, don’t look.
Find me, oh please find me.
Hide  ‘n seek,
A childish game gone awry.

I am an enigma, even unto myself.
A puzzle unsolved, a mystery maybe until beyond death.  ©das

SPIRIT - strange how we act when we are young. Wanting to be accepted, yet holding people at bay. Enjoyed this. Chris

that perches in the soul....

How oh how do you come so close to the heart in your poetry.  Oh, that I could do as well.  It is amazing though how we lose ourselves while giving the face we thing others want to see.  B.

Yes. The desperation of the very young.  Getting older isn't all bad.  Joyce
