LOST LOVE

Why do others insist
That it is strange,
That I love you still,
In spite
Of years apart?

I have found nothing
Written down
That says I have to be
With you, to love you.
Your physical presence
Is not needed
To acknowledge
My feelings for you.
You are, after all
The father of my children,
That is an irreversible bond
Neither one of us can sever.
My heart is full of love for you,
Always has been, and for that
I am thankful.

I feel sorry for those,
Who when love has moved on,
Fill the void with hate.
Then live a life
Of bitterness and regret.

I am an enigma, even unto myself.
A puzzle unsolved, a mystery maybe until beyond death.  ©das
