Pieces of the Night

I watch the sky begin to blush
With early mornings rosy blush.
The hills are outlined, sharply drawn
Against the background of the dawn.

This is a lovely time of day
And as the color fades away,
Some ravens, black as ebony,
Go flying by and caw at me.

I wish that I could understand
What motivates their little band
And what they're saying.Soon their flight
Has carried them away, they might
Be ragged pieces of the night!

Dear Betty.  You never run out of words to describe the world around you.  This is wonderful.  Re; your reply to my Hannah poem.  No her party had to be postponed.  This started the day before.  Her mouth and throat are full of blisters.  Poor baby.)

Chris:  Thanks for commenting.  We have so many ravens around our place and seems you can see or hear them most anytime, but they are especially active in the early morning. I find them fascinating for some reason!

Joyce:  Thanks for reading and always enjoy your comments.

So sorry to hear about Hannah.  It's awfully hard when they are that young.  Hope tomorrow will show improvement.

your work never ceases to amaze and please me. You take something ordinary and transform it into a thing of beauty.

the woods are lovely, dark, and deep, but I have promises to keep, and many miles to go before I sleep...Frost
