Floating gently on a cloud....

Twisted Armour

Born unblemished, whole, passing from fortress womb to mother’s arms.
Shrouded in cloth, cocooned in protection.
Irrelevant world unfolds timelessly, unknown.
Armour, whole, unbroken, keeps sorrow at bay.
Tears shed for physical discomfort alone.
Emotions rest unanalyzed, unknown, unseen.

Growth inevitable distorts the shield.

The road to discovery, awareness, enlightenment uneven,
Tripping and falling precede ability to walk.
Bumps. Bruises.
Shifting perspectives.
A World and its Time come into focus.
Soft curves of the unknown become harsh, jagged edges.

Growth inevitable slashes the shield.

No longer cocooned in the darkness of the nameless.
Rays of light and life penetrate the shadows.
Good and evil are illuminated from below,
Revealed in all their glory.
They dance in half-light, merging, blurring,
Distinguished by love alone.

Growth inevitable splits the shield.

It is in suffering that joy is treasured.
Pain exacerbates pleasure.
Hatred gives love its value.
Protection from life’s blows
Means missing its caresses.
Blindness steals deformity and beauty alike.

Growth inevitable pierces the shield.

Useless Armour, so twisted and worn.
From birth you are known,
Clung to for false security.
Protecting all men from themselves alone.
Freedom lies in discarding you
And embracing life in all its stars and shadows.

Can growth inevitable destroy the shield?
