The sun is rising in the sky,
It won’t be long till I say bye.
The weeks have passed by oh so quick,
I’d hate to forget a single bit.

The first day when I was left here alone,
Oh how much I dreamt of going home.
Now at last the chance is here,
Growing rapidly that day comes near.

Friendships made along the way,
Now in this place I wish to stay.
I love it here, I feel at ease,
Torn inside, no inner peace.

At home my friends and family reside,
Yet new friends have I here by my side.
I enjoy my course, I like where I live,
Many good times this place has to give.

To home I must go
To Thistledane row.
To here in the New Year I will return,
Then once again many things will I learn.

* this one is slight more cheerful. Its about my first term at university and I hope you enjoy. As always critical comments appreciated*

Yes, I like your poem.  And I know the feeling.  We must always make choices and it is not easy.  Welcome to our corner.  Joyce

cherrylips:  This describes your mixed feelings very well.  Your new friends will be waiting for you and glad to have you back I'm sure and old friends are to be treasured, as are families.
