Spirit of Christmas

Dear loving parents do not grieve
If you have let your child believe
Dear old Santa travels far and wide,
Through cities, towns and country side,
Bringing toys and spreading joy
To every little girl and boy.

The evening of the Christ Child's birth
His spirit spread through all the earth.
Some named the Spirit, "Santa Claus",
And that is quite all right because
This Spirit comes from up above.
Most of us simply call it Love.

Joyce:  I love your poem and it's such a lovely message.  You know we have Ron, who is developmentally disabled.  I sometimes think he sees more than we do!  He still believes in Santa Claus, but at the same time, he somehow knows all good things come from God.

I never realized that I would actually need klenex for this one but it touched me astoundingly.  Simply put, I love the idea behind this poem, that it is not a bad thing to let the little ones believe in the goodness and generosity of the human spirit and the ONE who created it and US. We all NEED to believe in this spirit

Have a Blessed Christmas,

Sherry

this one is now in my library.

Cherish the good memories of the past and look forward to the adventure called Tomorrow. But above all... be kind to yourself today.

Dear Joyce,

Your delightful piece does get me into a holiday mood, and reminiscing my childhood Christmass!

I believe the spirit of love is spread pretty quick with Santa and his helpers, and like the good book says... love is the greatest gift of all.
I love the way your poem shows the meaning of it all.
