The air is icy with Winter's Breath
As Autumn's colors wane in death
Once bright leaves, turned to crackling brown
As Winter's King does don his crown

As each sunrise greets the frost nipped earth
Dawns fires bid adieu to dreams of Spring's rebirth
Recalling the past month's turns and twists
While enduring Old Man Winters chilly kiss

Houses and voices filled with holiday cheer
As families reacquaint at the end of the year
Stories of old and stories brand new
Entertaining tales are sure to ensue

Embers glow from dying evening fires
As the adults relax and young ones retire
Stars bright in the dark night sky
As we yet bid another year good-bye

CHILI:  Really nice poem!  Brought back memories of autumn and now winter and the approaching holidays.

Chili~
A delightful morning read ... as the frost lays glistening on the ground~

Me ?  I'd just as soon 'de-throne' the Winter King~
But ... that warm fire sounds sooooo inviting~

Lovely poem. Very good description of Winter. I especially like "As Winter's king does don his crown."

Marge, thank you for taking the time to read and comment. I think cozy fires are one of my favorite things to have during the winter season.
